Copywriting

Copywriting is the use of words to promote a person, business, opinion, or idea. Although the word copy may be applied to any content intended for printing (as in the body of a newspaper article or book), the term copywriter is generally limited to such promotional situations, regardless of media (as advertisements for print, television, radio or other media). The author of newspaper or magazine copy, for example, is generally called a reporter or writer, not a copywriter.

(By the way, although the word copywriting is correctly and regularly used as a noun or gerund, and copywrite is sometimes used as a verb by professionals, copywrite is not listed by major dictionaries. as a noun is always incorrect.)

Thus the purpose of marketing copy, or promotional text, is to persuade the reader, listener or viewer to act — for example, to buy a product or subscribe to a certain viewpoint. Alternatively, copy might also be intended to dissuade a reader. Copywriting is "getting across the perfect message, with the perfect words."

Copywriting can appear in direct mail pieces, taglines, jingle lyrics, web page content (although if the purpose is not ultimately promotional, its author might prefer to be called a content writer.), online ads, e-mail and other Internet content, television or radio commercial scripts, press releases, white papers, catalogs, billboards, brochures, postcards, sales letters, and other marketing communications media.

On websites, copywriting may also refer to content writing for the purpose of achieving higher rankings in search engines. This practice includes the strategic placement and repetition of keywords and keyword phrases on webpages. Known as "organic" search engine optimization (SEO), it is best done in a way that does not distract, bore or confuse the human reader. Achieving optimal results is something of an art.

This allows us to see straight away, that the competition is not static, your competitors are striving for pole position as well as yourself, and the question that needs to be asked is not

'how do I get a first place position in Google?'

but

'how do I provide Google with better information than that provided by my competitors?'

You need to know how good these competing web pages are, and you need to ensure that your SEO not only does enough to sneak past them in the rankings, but enough to ensure that there is a safe margin of quality, relevance and importance between your web pages and those of your closest competitors in the SERPs (Search Engine Ranking Pages).
SEO TESTIMONIALS:

“I'll tell everybody how good you are” - Steve Gunn

“You're a bloody genius. I've been so busy recently (all from the website) that I've barely had time to think let alone write any more copy for an extra page as I intended.”

Moreover, if you want an SEO campaign aimed at a national or global market, then you usually need an ongoing campaign to ensure your continuing success and growth. Even if you hold first place, there is no guarantee that someone else's SEO campaign won't push you back down the rankings if you don't invest in staying competitive. This means engaging in an SEO campaign as a long-term venture, and not just thinking about how well you are doing at the moment, but staying in there for the long haul as well. For web sites competing for local markets, the competition is often much weaker and you may get by with a one-off service, but even here it is sometimes the case that fierce competition requires you to keep your eye on the ball.

Diesel engine

A diesel engine is an internal combustion engine which operates using the Diesel cycle; it was based on the hot bulb engine design and patented on February 23, 1893.

Diesel engines use compression ignition, a process by which fuel is injected after the air is compressed in the combustion chamber causing the fuel to self ignite. By contrast, a gasoline engine utilizes the Otto cycle, in which fuel and air are mixed before ignition is initiated by a spark plug. Most diesel engines have large pistons, therefore drawing more air and fuel which results in a bigger and more powerful combustion. This was originally implemented in very large vehicles such as trucks, locomotives and ships, (and also as a stationary engine), as more efficient replacement for the steam engine. Starting in the 1930s and initially developing slowly they have been used in a few cars. Since the 1970s diesel engines have developed dramatically and have been used in many more cars, starting with larger on road and off road vehicles (especially SUV's in the USA). As they have been refined they have been used in smaller and smaller cars. Today the smallest cars on the European market have a super efficient diesel engine option and forty percent of all new car sales in Europe are diesel.

Egosurfing

Egosurfing (also called vanity searching, egosearching, egogoogling, autogoogling, self-googling, or simply Googling yourself) is the practice of searching for one's own given name, surname, full name, pseudonym, or screen name on a popular search engine, to see what results appear. It has become increasingly popular with the rise of popular search engines such as Google, as well as free blogging and web-hosting services. It is sometimes combined with third-party tools such as Googlefight when several people egosurf together, or accessed by SMS through services such as 199QUERY (Australia) or AQA (UK) which people SMS their name to a number and a Egosearch is performed on that name and returned (egotexting).

Similarly, an egosurfer is one who surfs the Internet for his own name, to see what, if any, articles appear about himself.

The term was allegedly coined by Sean Carton.

prior to the existence of search engines, a similar practice existed on Usenet, known as kibozing after James "Kibo" Parry, who was well known for replying in a surreal fashion to anyone who mentioned his/her name, on any newsgroup

Stirling Engine Operation

Since the Stirling engine is a closed cycle, it contains a fixed mass of gas called the "working fluid", most commonly air, hydrogen or helium. In normal operation, the engine is sealed and no gas enters or leaves the engine. No valves are required, unlike other types of piston engines. The Stirling engine, like most heat-engines, cycles through four main processes: cooling, compression, heating and expansion. This is accomplished by moving the gas back and forth between hot and cold heat exchangers, often with a regenerator between the heater and cooler. The hot heat exchanger is in thermal contact with an external heat source, such as a fuel burner, and the cold heat exchanger being in thermal contact with an external heat sink, such as air fins. A change in gas temperature will cause a corresponding change in gas pressure, while the motion of the piston causes the gas to be alternately expanded and compressed.

The gas follows the behavior described by the gas laws which describe how a gas's pressure, temperature and volume are related. When the gas is heated, because it is in a sealed chamber, the pressure rises and this then acts on the power piston to produce a power stroke. When the gas is cooled the pressure drops and this means that less work needs to be done by the piston to compress the gas on the return stroke, thus yielding a net power output.

When one side of the piston is open to the atmosphere, the operation is slightly different. As the sealed volume of working gas comes in contact with the hot side, it expands, doing work on both the piston and on the atmosphere. When the working gas contacts the cold side, its pressure drops below atmospheric pressure and the atmosphere pushes on the piston and does work on the gas.

To summarize, the Stirling engine uses the temperature difference between its hot end and cold end to establish a cycle of a fixed mass of gas, heated and expanded, and cooled and compressed, thus converting thermal energy into mechanical energy. The greater the temperature difference between the hot and cold sources, the greater the thermal efficiency. The maximum theoretical efficiency is equivalent to the Carnot cycle, however the efficiency of real engines is only a fraction of this value, even in highly optimized engines.

Very low-power engines have been built which will run on a temperature difference of as little as 7 °C, for example between the palm of a hand and the surrounding air, or between room temperature and melting water ice.

Stirling engine

A Stirling engine is a closed-cycle regenerative heat engine with a gaseous working fluid. "Closed-cycle" means the working fluid, the gas which pushes on the piston, is permanently contained within the engine's system. This also categorizes it as an external heat engine which means it can be driven by any convenient source of heat. "Regenerative" refers to the use of an internal heat exchanger called a 'regenerator' which increases the engine's thermal efficiency compared to the similar but simpler hot air engine.

Noted for its high efficiency, quietness of operation and the ease with which it can utilise what would otherwise be waste heat, the Stirling engine is currently exciting much interest as the core component of domestic combined heat and power (CHP) units, the widespread adoption of which could have a significant effect upon worldwide carbon dioxide emissions[1][2].

The Stirling engine was used in small low power applications for nearly two centuries, and saw ever increasing scientific development of its technological potential. The Stirling cycle is notable for its perfect theoretical efficiency; however this ideal has proved notoriously difficult to achieve in real engines, and remains an immense engineering challenge. Nevertheless, the current technology is reasonably advanced, and the designs are useful and versatile. It continues to be used and further developed, and this device holds promise for its ability to provide mechanical or electrical power, heating or cooling in a number of applications wherever a heat source and heat sink are available.

The term "hot air engine" is used generically to include any heat engine with air working fluid. Hot air engines may use any one of several different thermodynamic cycles, including the Brayton cycle, Ericsson cycle or Stirling cycle. Air is one of many possible gases that may be used in a Stirling engine.

Search engine marketing

Search engine marketing, or SEM, is a form of Internet marketing that seeks to promote websites by increasing their visibility in search engine result pages (SERPs). According to the Search Engine Marketing Professional Organization, SEM methods include: search engine optimization (or SEO), paid placement, and paid inclusion. Other sources, including the New York Times, define SEM as the practice of buying paid search listings.

In 2006, North American advertisers spent US$9.4 billion on search engine marketing, a 62% increase over the prior year and a 750% increase over the 2002 year. The largest SEM vendors are Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing and Microsoft adCenter. As of 2006, SEM was growing much faster than traditional advertising and even other channels of online marketing.

As the number of sites on the Web increased in the mid-to-late 90s, search engines started appearing to help people find information quickly. Search engines developed business models to finance their services, such as pay per click programs offered by Open Text in 1996 and then Goto.com 1998. Goto.com later changed its name to Overture in 2001, and was purchased by Yahoo! in 2003, and now offers paid search opportunities for advertisers through Yahoo! Search Marketing. Google also began to offer advertisements on search results pages in 2000 through the Google AdWords program. By 2007 pay-per-click programs proved to be primary money-makers for search engines.

Search engine optimization consultants expanded their offerings to help businesses learn about and use the advertising opportunities offered by search engines, and new agencies focusing primarily upon marketing and advertising through search engines emerged. The term "Search Engine Marketing" was proposed by Danny Sullivan in 2001 to cover the spectrum of activities involved in performing SEO, managing paid listings at the search engines, submitting sites to directories, and developing online marketing strategies for businesses, organizations, and individuals.

Web Video

Weblinks have teamed up with the creative team at VideoTile. They have been specialising in website video for more than 10 years. Over that period they have produced scores of website videos for a broad cross section of commerce, industry and government users.

Web video is now emerging as a powerful marketing tool following the meteoric development of Internet infrastructure and the take up of broadband right across the developed world. When web video is combined with search engine optimisation techniques within the website design a tremendous impact on business traffic can be felt.

Web videos are best created especially for the Internet. Since video content produced for TV and DVD is not intended for a web audience that has very specific requirements regarding audiovisual content and interactivity.

Interactivity and control are critical to the success of web video content on the internet. Recent developments in encoding website video content delivered by macromedia Flash 8 have opened up many new creative opportunities for the convergence of video production and web development disciplines. Flash 9 is expected to further develop the flexibility of this exiting new website video medium.

VideoTile have been among the first to recognise the benefits of specially produced web video content with search engine optimization and have mastered the difficult balance between speed of loading, robust performance and excellent picture quality.

Progressive companies in the USA and the UK are now adopting web video as a means to grab the attention of their audiences and deliver their content and corporate personality to re enforce their image and brand values through internet marketing.

Website video has now many benefits to offer with SEO. The internet can now be used to present both the personality to go with the information. Up until now the internet has lacked this human dimension. Weblinx Limited are pioneering the use of human content across the whole spectrum of webpage styles and layouts and in every instance bringing the webpage to life using website video.

Live Search Farecast

Live Search Farecast (previously Farecast.com) is the first airfare prediction website in the computer reservations system industry. Farecast premiered to the public in May 2006, and went through a year of beta testing before emerging from beta on May 15th, 2007. Within the travel industry, Farecast is the first and only website to offer predictions on when is the best time to purchase airline tickets .

The company was Founded in 2003 by Oren Etzioni (founder of MetaCrawler and a professor in the Department of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington), and has collected over 175 billion airfare observations to date. Farecast's team of data miners use these airfare observations to build algorithms to predict future airfare price movements.

In August 2007 Farecast launched a beta version of its hotel search engine with an innovative "deals" rate key. In May 2007 the company released results of an independent audit verifying Farecast's prediction accuracy at 74.5 percent and also launched additional features such as Farecast Alerts (a notification service that will inform travelers of key price drops) and a flight quality filter that allows travelers to sort flights by type. In February 2007 Farecast introduced Fare Guard, which allows customers to lock-in a specific price for a flight and be protected from future price increases for the following seven days.

In April 2008, Farecast was bought by Microsoft for a fee believed to be around $75 million to 115 million . Microsoft officially integrated it as part of its Live Search group of tools in May 2008.

Submission & Directories

We place a lot of importance on keeping Search Engines informed of your web site. Most web site designers will submit your site once as a matter of course, but just like any advertising, to do this just once is to mis-understand the fundamentals of marketing.

As part of our Search Engine placement service we re-visit all the major Search Engines every month and ensure they are always aware of your site. Regular visits and analysis of your site according to Search Engines result lists allows for better visibility and eventual top positioning.

The service of 'submitting' web sites to Search Engines is, by and large, free. Some of the major Internet Directories are an exception to this. The biggest and best Directories, such as Yahoo!, are maintained by people who visit your site and actually spend time browsing through it in order to assess its quality and determine its appropriate position. Virtualnet Marketing has the ability and experience to construct web sites that appeal to Directory operatives.

Due to the human labour involved in Directory submissions the Directories often charge a fee for each submission. We can advise you on the best Directories to register with, and will happily process your registration for you should you hire our services – giving you the best advice possible is simply part of our Search Engine placement service.

Search Engine Placement

Search Engine placement is another term for Search Engine Optimisation. It is the process of "placing" the web site as high as possible in the search result lists of a given crawler search engine (such as Google) by carefully researching and selecting keyword phrases.

Search engines now account for over 85% of all new visitors to a web site (GVU Users Survey). While you may be familiar with these statistics, what you may not know is that only 7% of Internet users will surf beyond the first 20 listings of a search engine. In fact, a recent study has shown that over 87% of search engine users would rather switch to a different search engine than browse beyond the first 20 positions (NEC Research Institute).

Statistics show that almost everyone begins their journey across cyberspace with search engines.

Search engines are by far the most effective tools for increasing traffic to your web site. A top 10 position in one of the major search engines guarantees very high levels of traffic. Furthermore, incoming traffic generated in this way is highly targeted and will include a high number of surfers actively seeking services in the sector advertised. It is a simple equation; successful brand building for the web cannot flourish without professional Search Engine Placement based on thorough research and careful optimisation.

Live Search Mobile

Live Search Mobile is a search tool for mobile devices from Microsoft as part of their Windows Live range of services. It will be designed to format search results to show up to ten on screen at a time, and allow the user to save the results to the device.

There are three ways Live Search Mobile can be accessed:

* SMS (Text Messaging)
* Mobile Browsing
* Mobile Application

The Mobile Application is available as a J2ME application for non-Windows Mobile phones, and as a richer .NET application for Windows Mobile devices. It provides white and yellow page searches, maps (road and aerial satellite), driving directions, and traffic conditions.

This application can be used to transform your mobile phone into a navigation system with the aid of a GPS receiver. It allows you to search for a location, select it as the destination and then calculate a route to that place. By using a GPS you will be able to see your current position in the map and as you progress on the route you will get visual indications and text that shows you where to turn, etc. A data plan for your phone is required to be able to download the maps. The program shows real-time traffic in selected US cities, features automatic rerouting and is available at no cost.

Local search (Internet)

Local search is the use of specialized Internet search engines that allow users to submit geographically constrained searches against a structured database of local business listings. Typical local search queries include not only information about "what" the site visitor is searching for (such as keywords, a business category, or the name of a consumer product) but also "where" information, such as a street address, city name, postal code, or geographic coordinates like latitude and longitude. Examples of local searches include "San Francisco hotels", "Manhattan restaurants", and "Las Vegas Hertz". Local searches exhibit explicit or implicit local intent. A search that includes a location modifier, such as "Bellevue, WA" or "98006", is an explicit local search. A search that references a product or service that is typically consumed locally, such as "restaurant" or "nail salon", is an implicit local search.

Local search sites are primarily supported by advertising from businesses that wish to be prominently featured when users search for specific products and services in specific locations. Local search advertising can be highly effective because it allows ads to be targeted very precisely to the search terms and location provided by the user.

Jet engine

A jet engine is a reaction engine that discharges a fast moving jet of fluid to generate thrust in accordance with Newton's laws of motion. This broad definition of jet engines includes turbojets, turbofans, rockets, ramjets, pulse jets and pump-jets. In general, most jet engines are internal combustion engines but non-combusting forms also exist.

In common usage, the term 'jet engine' generally refers to a gas turbine driven internal combustion engine, an engine with a rotary compressor powered by a turbine ("Brayton cycle"), with the leftover power providing thrust via a propelling nozzle. These types of jet engines are primarily used by jet aircraft for long distance travel. The early jet aircraft used turbojet engines which were relatively inefficient for subsonic flight. Modern subsonic jet aircraft usually use high-bypass turbofan engines which help give high speeds as well as, over long distances, giving better fuel efficiency than many other forms of transport.

About 7.2% of the oil used in 2004 was ultimately consumed by jet engines 2007, the cost of jet fuel, while highly variable from one airline to another, averaged 26.5% of total operating costs, making it the single largest operating expense for most airlines.

Search Engine Marketing

Les premiers marchés étant 1.US, 2.UK, 3.France.

Rover KV6 engine

The KV6 automotive engine is a techologically-advanced 24 valve, quad cam V6 engine, available in 2.5 litre or 2.0 litre, built by Powertrain Ltd which is a sister company to MG Rover. It is derived from their four-cylinder K-Series engine.

First introduced into the Rover 800 series with the 1996 facelift, including the flagship Rover Sterling Saloon and Coupe models, it has since also powered the Rover 75 and its sister car, the MG ZT, as well as the Rover 45 and the MG ZS.

The engine was designed and developed by Rover at Longbridge to replace the Honda 2.7l V6 engine which was about to become non-compliant with tightening emissions legislation. The original unit was designed for low volume production but was later redesigned to fit into the smaller Rover 75's bonnet, although performance remained similar.

In 1994 the engine was licenced to Kia Motors who invested in a new plant at the Assan Bay complex to build the engine. This engine was used in several KIA vehicles. Its introduction in Korea shortly followed its use by Rover in the Sterling.

Website Design

At Knobblycrab Website Design our main purpose is to create a website for you that will attract attention to the product or service you wish to promote, present a professional image of your company and support the message you are trying to convey in writing. When search engine optimisation and targeted copywriting are crucial to a successful end product that is, essentially, an amalgamation of graphic design, programming, content copywriting, brand building and direct marketing, it is vitally important to hire professionals with experience of these highly specialised elements, all of which will be implemented in the development of a website design specific to your requirements.

Badly designed websites will ultimately reflect badly on your business - even if the design of the website looks professional, unless it sticks to the rules of web marketing, image handling, copywriting, search engine optimisation and the many other aspects of web development, it will not do its job properly. Presenting your products and services to a world wide audience in a way that is not only appealing but is guaranteed to generate a response from potential customers requires a certain amount of insight, integrity, diplomacy and a number of other specialised skills that we have at Knobblycrab, and are proud to be able to offer our clients.

Whereas most website design companies are only interested in making your website look good, we set our sights much higher. We design websites that not only look good but also project a professional image, serve a specific marketing purpose and offer the best possible opportunity for a high profile presence on the Internet - something we strive to achieve by combining website design and search engine optimisation with targeted research and copywriting, advanced marketing and relationship building techniques.

Website design is far more than just creating something pleasant to look at or entertaining to use, although these are still important elements depending on certain individual preferences and needs. When there are so many components that have to fit comfortably together and work in perfect harmony, in the end all you really want from your website is that it does the job of directing visitors - and potential customers - as quickly and easily as possible to the information they're hoping to find, then to take the action you want them to take without becoming overwhelmed or lost on the way or, worse still, so bored and confused that they look elsewhere on the web for a similar product source.
